A Hundred Years of the 'Tracco'

Aldershot & District Traction Co. Ltd. (affectionately known as the 'Tracco' ) was inaugurated on 24th July 1912 when the British Automobile Traction Company Limited bought the pioneering Aldershot & Farnborough Motor Omnibus Company Ltd, whose 5 buses had operated services between those two towns since 1906. In 1972 the Aldershot & District Traction Co. Ltd. was merged with neighbouring company Thames Valley to form Alder Valley.

In celebration of the centenary of the Company, on Sunday 27th May 2012 the Aldershot & District Bus Interest Group join forces with Stagecoach in Hants and Surrey to stage a very special joint event.

Special Liveries

For the 100th anniversary of the Aldershot & District Traction Company, the two company successors, Stagecoach in Hants & Surrey and Arriva in Guildford and West Surrey have painted two of their modern buses using a traditional Aldershot and District livery. Stagecoach have repainted one of theirs in MAN 14 Series Enviro 200 (GX08 HBN) in classic livery while Arriva have used a little artistic licence with a version of their corporate livery using the Aldershot and District colours for their Plaxton bodied low floor Dennis Dart (P288 FPK). (this was the same bus that was painted for the 100th anniversary of buses in Aldershot)
